Erin Carey is passionate about bringing the arts to a broad audience and creating a strong arts presence in communities. Her love for music comes from beginning violin study at the age of 4 and performing in symphony orchestras from childhood onward. She also participated in regional theater and ballet productions throughout her youth in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Ms. Carey recently completed a Master’s degree in Arts Administration from the University of Oregon in Eugene. Her Master’s Thesis; Symphony Audience Development: Analysis of Organizational Culture in the Performing Arts, focused on symphony orchestra organizational cultures and artistic programming. This research, coupled with professional experience in symphony management and consulting, has strengthened her commitment for creating strong arts organizations with viable futures.
Symphony administrative experience includes work with the Eugene Symphony, Berkeley Symphony, and the Eugene Community Orchestra.
